Roger Lotte: French viola bow, Mirecourt

With its rare combination of tonal and playing qualities, this French viola bow is a true rarity that was crafted around 1940 by Mirecourt maker Roger François Lotte. The round stick is originally branded, it was made of orange-brown pernambuco wood and features a rare combination of strength and elastic activity and feels light weight in the hand, so that this Lotte bow allows both pressure and soft fludi play, as well as active bouncing techniques. The powerful head with elegant lines represents the high quality of Roger Lottes craftsmanship, as well as the nickel mounted ebony frog with a Pearl eye. The sensed balance-point of the viola bow is broadly centered, the measured balance-point is at 25.3 cm (incl. the adjuster). French viola bows of this quality are internationally sought after, and Mirecourts excellent reputation is approved by this versatile Roger Lotte bow suitable for professionals that features a warm, clear sound, precise and full of volume - undamaged and ready to play after a complete work-over by our experienced luthiers.
