One of the most successful brands produced by the Laberte-Humbert atelier in Mirecourt was the “Nicolas Bertholini” line of violins. The ¾-sized violin that we offer here is a “Nicolas Bertholini” model from the 1920s that bears its original label. Its pleasing visual aesthetic is made even more striking by the intensely red, patinated varnish, yet what really makes this instrument stand out from other ¾-sized violins is its voice, which is as big, powerful and dominant as that of a 4/4-sized violin. The two-piece back of mildly flamed maple and the elegantly worked purfling and fluting contribute to the overall loveliness of the instrument. We recommend this violin for its sound, which is resonant and rich in overtones, and offer it in perfect condition, ready to play.
