1/4 - sized French violin, approx. 1900

This French children's violin is a small 1/4 violin, a lovely historic instrument of superior quality that most probably comes from the highly respected J.T.L. ateliers at Mirecourt. This French 1/4 violin is labeled "Chiafredo Cappa" - it was made around 1900 and has been kept in very good condition; it has some traces of use that are an inevitable "side effect" for a children's instrument which is played frequently and gladly. With the exception of a deep dark scratch and a minimal repair on the outer soundhole-wing, the 1/4 violin is undamaged and has been completely set up by our luthier. It now has a new bridge, sound post, Pirastro strings and tailpiece with four fine tuners. Its bright, warm sound is somewhat mellow, balanced across all of the strings and lovely in its resonance.
