Fine Neuner & Hornsteiner 3/4 violin, Mittenwald, c.1850

This fine historic 3/4 violin ranks among the extremely rare fine quality 3/4-sized instruments that was made in the Mittenwald ateliers of Neuner & Hornsteiner. The Stardivarius labeled violin is a very typical fine quality Neuner & Hornsteiner piece of work that was meticulously and skillfully crafted by hand in the mid 19th century around 1850. Its exceptionally good artisanry and the quality of the tone woods used are what make it a true strong sounding Mittenwald violin that shares all the distinguished hallmarks of its famous provenance, even as a children's instrument. Best quality domestic spruce was chosen for the two piece top and fine Mittenwald sycamore maple for the two piece back; they both show traces of use of the hands of generations of a technically adept and advanced musicians. It is clear that the instrument in otherwise good maintained condition offered generation of young talented players a wide scope of musical options, thanks to its strong, warm, open, clear and somewhat dark resonant sound, characteristic which Mittenwald violins are known for. Besides a minor repair at the left soundhole, that involved the opening, the violin has no crack or damage. This rare 3/4 Mittenwald violin for talents expresses a voice full of character, strong and dominant like a 4/4. Our expert luthiers restored and worked over this antique children´s violin carefully and made it ready to play.
