Joseph Klimits, 19th century, Viennese viola

An old 19th century viola that was most likely made by Joseph Klimits in Vienna. It is is stamped JK above the saddle under the tailpiece and further stamped 50 above the end button. The varnish is a rich oil varnish of a deep red color, the varnish is beautifully craquelled. This old viola is a high quality instrument in perfect and completely undamaged condition. It has been set up by our luthier with a new bridge, soundpost and strings. Suitable for home players and chamber music.
