This historic Southern German Mittenwald violin was crafted by Korbinian Rieger in 1852. This violin is one of the superior quality instruments by Korbinian Rieger that he sold under his own name and label and that is unmistakably part of the Mittenwald tradition. There is doubt that this antique violin comes from the famous Bavarian violin-making town, given its typical style with a reddish-brown varnish and a well-proportioned scroll. Elegant artisanry can also be seen in the purfling, the two-piece back of mildly flamed maple and the small, elegantly cut soundholes. This Korbinian Rieger violin has some minor repairs repair that allow us to offer this quality instrument at an affordable price. The violin was made ready to play after being carefully set up by the violin makers in our atelier, enhancing its mature, dark and radiant sound that s rich in overtones and carrying.
