Antique, 19th century Mittenwald violin, c.1880

This historic Southern German Mittenwald violin, which was crafted around 1880, is a quality instrument that is unmistakably part of the Mittenwald tradition. There is doubt that this antique violin comes from the famous Bavarian violin-making town, given its typical style with a reddish-brown varnish and a well-proportioned scroll. Elegant artisanry can also be seen in the purfling, the two-piece back of mildly flamed maple and the small, elegantly cut soundholes. The violin has with minor repairs that allow us to offer this quality instrument ata reduced price. It was made ready to play after being carefully set up by the violin makers in our atelier, enhancing its warm, bright, somewhat mellow sound and rapid response.
