Early French J.T.L. Médio-Fino violin

The J.T.L. ateliers in Mirecourt offered with the highly sought-after “Médio Fino” line solid-quality, simple instruments with very good musical properties. Correspondingly, many of the “Médio Finos” available today have intense traces of use, and examples such as this one, which is in perfect condition, are quite rare. This typical instrument was made late in the 19th century and appears never to have been barely used; it was made following a broad model with drawn-on purfling and a resin pocket on top. This 19th century instrument is very visually appealing with its gently flamed one-piece back, the radiant light-brown varnish and its features including pegs, tailpiece and chin rest of rosewood. The sound of this good violin is warm and large, and our luthiers made it ready to play.
