French violin by J.T.L., Mirecourt

This top quality French violin was built approx. 1910 in the workshops of Jérôme Thibouville-Lamy (J.T.L.) in Mirecourt, the well-known center of violin making in the Vosges mountains of France. It is an instrument of J.T.L.'s top series made on a model of J.B. Vuillaume and bears a small JTL label. The violin introduces the typical J.T.L. style with a wide body and a luminous orange-brown varnish. The deeply flamed one piece maple back and the delicately carved scroll which is blackened provide a beautiful, elegant appearance. This undamaged French violin is preserved in perfect crackfree condition and was completely worked-over in our atelier and is in very good, crackfree condition, immediately ready to play. We highly recommend its clear, strong voice, that is of mature character, resonant and rich in overtones.
