This antique Enrico Robella violin hails from the workshop of Markneukirchen luthier Ernst Heinrich Roth, where it was created in 1929 during the most successful epoch of his family-run business. It has a dated label with the brand name Enrico Robella, which E.H. Roth apparently used especially for exports to the US. Passed on from generation to generation, these now historic "Enrico Robella" instruments remain extremely popular on the American music scene. This particular instrument is inspired by a template from the Italian classic J. B. Guadagnini, yet it still fully reflects its heritage from the Saxonian violin making town of Markneukirchen. The moderately grained spruce of the top and the deep flames of the two-piece maple back are high-quality tone woods which are fully typical of the finest workshops of the old Saxonian-Bohemian violin-making region. The attractive and elegantly carved scroll is more than merely a decorative element which rounds out the aesthetic of this excellently crafted violin; it is also a prime example of the exceptional training and the extensive experience of Ernst Heinrich Roth's luthiers. The golden-brown varnish with its subtle and nuanced antiquing confirms the outstanding artisanry. This instrument came to us in perfect and undamaged condition, and we have meticulously set it up at our atelier. This Enrico Robella violin is heartily recommended because of its large, clear and warm sound.
