Mittenwald violin from the Mittenwald violin-making school, 1936

Since 1858, the Mittenwald violin making school has taught its students the art of crafting instruments, and over the years countless masters have emerged from its ranks. This fine quality magnificent and luminously red-orange Mittenwald violin with stamp by the Mittenwald violin making school is an outstanding quality and meticulously handmade instrument with its craftsmanship and the outstanding quality of its sound. It is actually the work of an exceptionally talented journeyman who created it in 1936, and it has been frequently played and remained - except some varnish mark - in unusually good condition since. The expertise which went into crafting this premium violin is evident in the soft arch of the body, the finely carved soundholes and accurately executed edgework. The coat of dark red-orange oil varnish is despite a mark to the left upper bout on top in excellent condition, with minor signs from shoulder rest playing mainly on the back and ribs. This "Fachschule für Geigenbau" violin was made of the finest Mittenwald tone woods and has a powerful, clear, warm, large sound — darker in the lower registers, and bright, sweet and open in the upper registers. Completely worked over by our luthiers and offered ready to play.
