A fine old german violin made and labelled by G. Robert Pfretzschner, Dresden. The violin is originally labelled, dated and further numbered No. 612. The rich and soft varnish is an oil varnish, the varnish is craquelled at some places. The color is a warm and intense orange over a golden ground. The violin is well made and of high workmanship with thoroughly worked out details. The graceful scroll is thoroughly worked out and fully undercut, the inlaid purfling neatly let into the edge. The violin is despite a small repair at the edge in perfect condition with no other cracks or repairs. The sound is huge and clear with round volume in the lower ranges and powerful clarity in the higher ranges. The sound is even over the strings and well balanced. The violin projects instantly and immediately with a crunchy projection. Special recommendation.
