This fine modern Mittenwald violin by Max Hofmann was made in the Bavarian Mittenwald. Max Hofmann made this fine instrument in 1957 after the model of Stradivarius in keeping with the finest Mittenwald traditions. He used only high-grade tonewoods from the surrounding Karwendel woods and crafted this violin in the traditional 20th century Mittenwald style. The deeply flamed two piece maple back and the two piece top of finest quality hazel spruce are true masterpieces of nature. Being in flawless condition and with its luminous varnish that changes in warm and bright golden orange-brown shades, this high grade Mittenwald instrument is in no way inferior to contemporary Mittenwald master instruments of similar quality that are commonly available for no less than 15,000 €. Last but not least the very good tonal qualities of the violin are of noteworthy quality and character: It sounds warm, matured, clear, strong, and open.
