Max Zimmer was born in Grosszöbern. He developed his skills in Worms, Rossbach and Munich before he established his own business in Nuremberg back in the year 1906. Max Zimmer was an expert of instruments of Cremona, he created several impressing violins on the models of the Italian masters Stradivari and Guarneri. This Max Zimmer instrument is an exceptionally beautiful, individually crafted Guarnerius model. The high-level craftsmanship is obvious in the fine attention that was given to the details. The oil varnish covering the fine tonewoods is of remarkable quality. The color is an intense dark orange of a transparency that is perfectly accentuating the broadly flamed maple back. The perfect state of preservation is complemented by an outstanding Guarnerius sound: clear, dark and carrying, rich and powerful.
