German student violin, Bubenreuth

This old German violin was made in the 1970s, probably in the Franconian town of Bubenreuth, and is a good and well-built instrument. It is sturdy and designed to meet straightforward standards for everyday use. At the same time it is surprising with its exceptionally finely crafted purfling that extends well into the corners. The instrument was patterned after a popular and tried-and-true Stradivari model and has an orange-brown varnish and a top made of good moderately-grained spruce. The old violin has traces of use but no damage, and we offer it in ready-to-play condition. Its sound is very well suited to orchestral playing and has a bright, clear character that is of good strength and rich in overtones.
