This antique French 1/2 violin from around 1920 has an especially attractive historic appearance, especially amongst the rare half-sized violins which feature a sound of good strength and pleasant warmth. It was crafted in an unknown atelier in the French violinmaking town of Mirecourt, and it has an unusual and distinctive profile with its eye-catching silhouette, high ribs and moderately high arch on the top and back. The small sound holes and gentle flaming of the two-piece maple back are a charming contrast with the pronounced and somewhat fluid lines of the moderately-grained spruce top. Many of use by talented young musicians shape the aesthetic of the highly transparent, orange-brown varnish. A few smaller flaws have no impact on either the visual appeal of this violin or its bright, warm sound, which is of good strength and pleasant warmth. It is a well-preserved children's violin with rich potential; we meticulously set it up in our atelier, and it is now ready to play.
