This German 3/4 violin from Markneuirchen in the "Musikwinkel" region near the Saxonian-Bohemian border is a solidly handcrafted piece from the 1930's, a time in which such traditional work was no longer to be taken for granted. The Stradivari model was very skillfully adapted to smaller dimensions, and the arch in particular is quite well executed. The well selected fine-quality maple has very attractive narrow flames. Modest traces of use on the shiny, transparent golden-redbrown varnish with beautiful antique toches suit an instrument of this age, and they indicate that the violin was played with great enjoyment but treated very carefully. The violin remains in very good condition, it has no cracks and can be played immediately. Our luthiers reviewed and worked over the violin and fitted it with a new bridge, sound post and strings and made it ready to play. The sound is warm, rounded, resonant and of good strength. Recommended!
