The wood selection is superior: the top is made of regular medium grained spruce, the one piece back of deeply flamed maple. The oil varnish is patinated and well worn, it is of an intense golden orange color with a wonderful patina. The elegant scroll is accurately and neatly worked out. It is an Northern German master violin in good condition, with most minor repairs to the outer f-wings, that was made ready to play in our atelier for lutherie and restoration. Her large sound is warm, mature and clear, singing and resonant. This interesting Franz Reber violin deserves our special recommendation.
