This powerful and mature sounding old German Mittenwald violin of quality with its highly patinated, retouched and darkened redbrown varnish tells a history - it was made for Neuner & Hornsteiner in the violin making town Mittenwald around 1850. In keeping with the best local craftsman tradition, the exceptionally good tone woods — medium grained spruce for the top and very elegant mildly flamed sycamore maple for the two-piece back – are coated with a dark red-brown, darkened varnish that enhances the texture of the wood, and it shows many traces from history and developed a beautiful patina - these optical flaws allow us to offer the violin at a competitive price. This good Mittenwald violin's mature radiant voice is rich in overtones and very resonant, with a warm character - an elegant match for its attractive, appealing and antique appearance. We offer the crackfree violin in good condition and ready to play, after a meticulous work-over in our atelier for lutherie and restoration.
