This old silver mounted cello by August Rau is one of August Raus later, mid 20th century workssuggested by the characterstically shaped head, the strong and active octagonal stick of red-brown pernambuco wood that produces a warm, large sound. Fine work at the head expresses the high standards of this August Rau cello bow: the finely made frog is a later addition, silver-mounted with a Parisian eye and has a one-part-adjuster; slide and eye are made of whitish shimmering mother-of-pearl. The total weight 78.1 cm; this August Rau cello bow features both excellent aesthetic and musical qualities, with a balance-point that is sensed centered slightly inclined towards the tip and measured at 23.6 cm including the adjuster. We offer this fine cello bow in perfect condition, ready to play after a complete work-over by the expert luthiers in our atelier.
