A top-quality piece from the Michael Mönnig workshop, this cello bow is a worthy bearer of Mönnig‘s original stamp and an ornamentation of two stars to mark it as a distinguished work. Its centrally positioned balance point and its perfect weight make it extremely comfortable to play and give it a large, warm sound, especially when played with newer cellos.

For over 250 years now, the Mönnigs, a family of Saxonian bow makers, have owned a workshop in the Vogtland town of Markneukirchen. Today, father Michael Mönnig and son Thomas carry on the heritage of their ancestors and the exquisite craftsman tradition of their home, an art that truly defined this master cello bow through and through. The influence of the typical Markneukirchen style is clearly evident in the contours of the head with its drawn-out nose. A two-star stamp on the octagonal stick of the finest pernambuco marks the bow as belonging to the upper tier of the Mönnig portfolio, and the premium silver fittings and ebony frog with a Parisian eye further confirm its merits. With its centrally positioned balance point slightly inclined towards the upper half of the bow and its perfectly designed weight of 79.7 g, this cello bow offers musicians nuanced and precise playing properties and a large, warm sound with a round, gentle note, making this Michael Mönnig cello bow a magnificent match for newly crafted instruments. Our trade-in guarantee covers the bow, which we set up and made ready to play at our specialist workshop, and it is truly an exceptionally well-executed masterpiece of contemporary Saxonian bow making.
