Italian cello by Officina Mauro Lucini, Cremona (certificate)

Italian Cello, Officina Mauro Lucini

This Italian cello is a first-class soloist instrument with excellent tone, built by the Officina in 2018 in the characteristic modern Cremonese style—a youthful, expressive, and beautifully resonant instrument in perfect condition, complete with the builder’s original certificate. The clear intention to create an instrument that meets the highest musical standards is unmistakably evident in every detail of this Cremona cello. Starting with the selection of the finest tonewoods—flawless spruce for the top and maple with a rare, delicate figure for the back and sides —Locatelli devotes the utmost attention to every step of the process, endowing this cello with an unmistakable personality that is particularly evident in the light-based, luminous orange-brown varnish and the beautifully crafted scroll. We acquired the instrument in perfect condition from a professional musician and, in our specialized violin-making workshop, inspected it with the utmost care and prepared it for playing. Its bright, clear, and colorful tone makes a highly intriguing artistic statement that reflects both the Officina Mauro Lucini’s roots in classical Italian violin making and its sensitivity to the needs of contemporary musicians seeking a versatile, beautiful-sounding, and responsive instrument for performing solo repertoire from various eras.
