This good English cello for sale was crafted around 1950 by an unknown master in a British atelier. It is a high-quality instrument with a milky orange-reddish oil varnish; the overall effect is striking and aesthetically appealing. The cello's appearance is characterised not only by the moderately-grained premium spruce of the top but by the gentle flaming of the two-piece maple back and ribs. The neck and scroll, which are also maple, have somewhat more pronounced flaming. The purfling has been applied close to the edge and indicates the work of a well-trained and experienced artisan. This old English cello, which we received in undamaged condition and thoroughly set up in our atelier, is now ready to play. We recommend its precise, matured, clear, balanced sound.
