This fine violin bow by Johann Wilhelm Knopf is an exquisite example of Saxon bow making: a mature work by the renowned master, crafted from first-class pernambuco, with high-quality fittings and excellent musical qualities.

A few years before re-establishing his workshop in Dresden, Johann Wilhelm Knopf demonstrated with this bow his status as an outstanding exponent of his family, which had a decisive influence on Saxon violin making. The unstamped, round stick made of beautifully luminous pernambuco reveals Knopf's experienced hand in its fine, meticulous workmanship. He equipped this comfortable bow, with a total weight of 57.4 g, with high-quality fittings: strikingly large mother-of-pearl eyes adorn the fine ebony frog; the mountings and wrapping are made of fine silver, and the tailpiece is three-piece with an eye. A certificate from expert Christian Hans-Karl Schmidt attests to the origin of this Johann Wilhelm Knopf violin bow, which we offer in ready-to-play condition, inspected and tested in our workshop.
