This fine viola bow bears the stamp “J. Tubbs,” indicating that it is an early work that hails from the London workshop of the great English bow maker James Tubbs (1835-1921). The Tubbs violin bow model features a large and beautifully crafted head, and the silver-mounted frog is made of the finest ebony. The round, elastic stick is of medium strength and perfectly balanced; it has the finest playing quality and a sound that is large and precise, clear and warm. The balance point of this viola bow is at the 26.7 cm mark, and it feels perfectly balanced in the hand. Due to a minor repair in the middle section of the stick, we can offer this rare piece at an extremely low price.
