French viola bow "Buthod a Paris". This excellent French viola bow was made approx. 1930 in the ateliers of Thibouville-Lamy. It is one of the highly sought-after „Buthod“ instruments, a successful J.T.L. brandmark, and it bears the original stamp „Ch. Buthod a Paris“. The strong, round stick was made of red pernambuco wood and features a very well distributed diameter. Its setup with a silver mounted ebony frog with Parisian eye and a three-part adjuster is of finest quality, too. The sensed balance point of the bow is in the upper third, the measured balance point is at 25.1 cm, total length 73.1 cm. With its perfect response the bow produces a resonant sound, light, clear and extremly precise, radiant and brilliant, worked by our luthiers and ready to play. A certificate of authenticity and an estimation of value for € 3500 by the Paris expert J. F. Raffin is offered together with this great bow.
