This delicate but resonant French viola was made in Mirecourt in the 1850s. Its excellent craftsmanship and musical qualities are indicative of an exceptionally talented and experienced luthier. It probably comes from the circle of the renowned Charotte family. With a body length of 38.4 cm (35.1 cm string length), and flat ribs, it is one of the slightly smaller, handier instruments of its kind.
