This rare 3/4 Hopf viola is a quality instrument from Saxony, that was built in the mid of the 19th century in the Hopf workshops in Klingenthal. The body measures 36.1 cm and was built after the well-known Hopf model with high ribs. It is covered by a glossy, highly transparent varnish of shimmering, golden-brown color. The edgework and purfling is an excellent reference for the skills of the violin maker, full of character and crafted with aesthetic sense. The antique viola was completely worked over by our luthier and is offered in undamaged, perfectly preserved condition, ready to play, with a recommendable good response and a bright, warm sound with some soft notes, that is suitable for chamber music.
