Modern viola from Alva (Scotland), built by Derick M. Sanderson in 1985

This modern viola is a beautiful-sounding instrument built at the end of the 20th century in 1985. The viola is a fine piece of work by violinist Derick Milton Sanderson, an instrument of unmistakable individuality, crafted to a high standard of quality based on Italian models. The F-holes and the pretty edge inlay of the viola were executed with taste and in good quality, and the small scroll is an elegant piece of work full of character. Rich oil varnish with patina and traces of playing in a beautiful, bright reddish-brown color covers the good tonewoods used to build the viola. We recommend this viola for its warm, precise sound, which is balanced, warm in character, and has a strong resonance with a very light response.
