This viola bow is an especially fine piece from the F. C. Pfretzschner brand and is the ideal choice for a modern instrument, whose voice it supports with greater volume. Crafted of the finest pernambuco and mounted with genuine silver, it offers a classically beautiful aesthetic along with excellent playing properties which are very forgiving.

A viola bow of superior quality, this piece from around 1980 indicates the high standards which the time-honoured company GEWA established in its collaborations with select bow-making workshops in Markneukirchen. It is in this spirit that the F. C. Pfretzschner brand paid tribute to the internationally renowned bow-making family from the Vogtland region and represented the solid artisanry, as can be seen in this moderately thick octagonal stick of dark brown pernambuco. The bow can be controlled well and has forgiving playing properties; its balance point is relatively central and feels slightly inclined towards the upper half. Its exact balance point is positioned at 26.8 cm of the total length of 75.3 cm, including the three-piece button. The top-quality silver fittings and rounded frog with a Parisian eye in the classic French style complement the subtle aesthetic of this universally playable F. C. Pfretzschner viola bow; we especially recommend it for playing younger contemporary instruments. Thanks to its natural elasticity, it offers additional volume and fullness in every register along with a pleasantly gentle character. After having been carefully set up at our workshop, the bow is now ready to play.
