Fine antique French violin bow with a silver mounted frog, this fine violin bow was made around 1870 in the outstanding bow workshop of the renowned house of Jerome Thibouville-Lamy and presents itself in good condition. The house of Jerome Thibouville-Lamy employed many of the best bow makers of his time, such as Jean-Joseph Martin, Louis GilletPierre Auguste Barbé, Charles Husson, Jean Joseph Maline und Nicolas Thomassin. The lightweight, flexible octaginal stick was made from first quality pernambuco, with a highly successful distribution of thickness, tension and elasticity and a finely and beautifully crafted head. With an overall length of 74.6 cm, the balace point of the ready-to-play violin bow is perfectly centered, so that the bow lies balanced in the hand over the entire stick. A very good piece of work with many playing marks, but as expected it combines all the desired characteristics and produces a large, strong, warm and characterful sound.
