This antique Klingenthal Hopf violin suitable for small handed players was made early in the 19. century, around 1820, in the famous Hopf workshops in Klingenthal. The back is originally branded Hopf on the button. The model is a typical Hopf model with flat archings and flat ribs. The tonewoods are of quality and beauty: the top is made of fine grained spruce, the two piece back of flamed maple. The aged varnish is of a typical Hopf yellow brown color, with beautiful patination. The violin is remarkably well preserved and in fine undamaged (crackfree) condition. The antique pegs with pearl inlay are especially beautiful and in fine condition. The violin is luthier-set up and in immediate playing condition. Its ancient sound is bright and quiet, unfortunately somewhat thin.
