An original mid 19th century 7/8 Hopf violin, originally stamped below the button. Antique 7/8 violins are absolutely rare finds and this 19th century 7/8 Hopf violin follows the typical Hopf square model featuring rather flat arching. The 7/8 size is a small fullsize with a bodylength of 35,0 cm. The top made of medium grained spruce, the one-piece back of flamed maple. The golden-brown varnish is beautifully patinated and in very good condition. This violin has only few uncritical repairs on top and is in immediate playing condition. The sound is perfectly balanced, powerful and carrying, with a warm with a sweetish note. Please have a look at our new 7/8 violin from the CV Selectio line.
