This 19th century violin with its rare flute-like sound was built approx. 1870 in Saxony in Germany. It is the highly individual work of an unknown, but undoubtedly skilled luthier. He designed it in an unmistakeable, unique style; especially the scroll is a distinctive, unconventional piece of art. The arching of the top and the back reveals flawless, experienced craftsmanship and is elaborately made of finest, carefully selected tonewoods. There can be absolutely no doubt about the provenance of this violin, that is not only indicated by the typical orange-brown varnish, that determines the beautiful appearance of the instrument. A minor repair to the left soundhole is without any impact on its tonal qualities. Our violin makers thoroughly worked over the instrument and made it ready to play. Its strong and fine quality sound is definetly convincing, mature and with old warmth, precise, well-balanced and fluid, with beautiful resonance. Our special recommendation.
