This well played antique German Hopf violin bears the orignal Hopf brandstamp on the back, it was made in Klingenthal around 1840 in the Hopf ateliers. The characteristic flat, squary model is a typical Hopf model. The unique and highly patinated varnish may tell the interested player many of the violins history from the past, almost 200 years. The tonewoods with remarkable tonal qualities. The top, which has a short table repair at the left soundhole, is made of medium grained spruce, the one piece back of mildly flamed maple. Meaningful wear from playing to the varnish indicates that this Hopf violin has been extensivley played - yet it remains in good substantial condition. The instrument has been carefully set up and adjusted by our luthiers and is in fine and immediate playing condition. Its beautiful ancient sound is warm, precise, singing and colorful.
