Petite Cremonese violin for small hands, a highly individual work by Romedio Muncher from 1924
This delicate Italian violin (35.2 cm) by Romedio Muncher has a very distinctive, individual design with its narrow model. The proportions and fine craftsmanship of the piece suggest that it was a commissioned work, in which the master craftsman's individual ideas were realized for a player with small hands. The highly transparent, reddish-brown oil varnish with its lively sheen skillfully highlights the wood structure. The finely crafted and elegantly cut scroll is a deliberate formal reference to classic Italian models, without appearing historicizing. Romedio Muncher's craftsmanship is in the context of those modern Cremonese workshops that were active at the beginning of the 20th century in the environment of Aristide Cavalli's Officina Claudio Monteverdi. These works combined a close observation of historical models with contemporary design decisions and were understood as a conscious continuation of the Italian violin-making tradition. Muncher had already become familiar with this approach during his training with Enrico Ceruti, whose work is characterized by a combination of tradition and innovation. This exceptionally beautiful Cremonese violin has a bright, powerful tone rich in overtones, typical of high-quality modern Italian string instruments. A small, professionally executed repair to the top plate to the left of the bridge is outside the critical area and has no influence on the stability or sound of the violin. This rare Cremonese violin for small hands is in very good, well-maintained condition and has been thoroughly inspected and prepared for playing. Delivered free of shipping costs, with a 30-day return policy and Corilon's trade-in guarantee. A Corilon certificate is included in the price.
