Didier Nicolas violin with a warm, rich, golden sound

This antique violin bearing his signature and a date is an unmistakable instrument from Mirecourt, the French "capital of violin making". It was crafted in the early-19th century shortly before his death and finsihed - probably varnished - in 1835. Its personal style and signature immediately reveals a heritage from the hands of Didier Nicolas (L‘ainé [“the elder”]), as evidenced by the typical model and its original stamp amd signature inside the body - and its very powerful sound — properties for which L‘ainé instruments are known and appreciated. Its quality can be seen in the one-piece back and the distinctive sound has well as the scroll, which is very French in nature. The bright, golden-orange varnish has an attractive light patina. This is a distinguished historic instrument that is very responsive. It is in excellent, flawless and remarkable condition without any repairs or damage. Its sound is exceptionally powerful and ideal for soloist performance; elegant and mature, it features a fluid resonance and great precision, full of character and balanced across all of the strings.
