German violin by Ernst Maurer made in 1991 in the Franconian town of Bubenreuth. This violin is a good and well-built instrument. It is sturdy and designed to meet straightforward standards for everyday use. At the same time it is surprising with its exceptionally finely crafted purfling that extends well into the corners. The instrument was patterned after a popular and tried-and-true Stradivari model and has an orange-brown varnish and a top made of good moderately-grained spruce. This good sounding Bubenreuth violin has some traces of use and a small uncritical repair and we offer it in ready-to-play condition. Its sound is very well suited to orchestral playing and has a bright, clear character that is of good strength and rich in overtones. Price is around 50% discounted towards a comparable new instrument.
