Antique German master violin of good traditional craftsmanship: an interesting instrument with a fine, individual style and a big, warm, and colorful sound
This antique German master violin, built before 1850 in the renowned violin-making town of Markneukirchen, is an excellent example of Saxon craftsmanship. The flat body is characterized by a mature, individual style, which is particularly evident in the slanted F-holes and the extremely finely drawn corners. The medium-aged spruce of the top and the exceptionally beautiful, narrowly flamed maple of the two-piece back are unmistakable evidence that this violin is the work of a well-established, highly trained and experienced master. The light brown varnish has darkened beautifully over time and developed an antique patina which, together with the interesting playing marks of good musicians, determines the noble personality of this violin. It is in excellent condition, with no significant repairs, and offers discerning musicians a wide range of expression with its large, warm sound of a soft, silky character, rich in color and with a flute-like note.
