The flourishing and diverse Italian violin making of our time continues to yield discoveries in unexpected places, such as this violin by Luca Branchetti, made in Pistoia, Tuscany, in 2018. Built after a model based on Stradivari, the striking ne, bright golden brown varnish reveals the confident aesthetic sensibility of Luca Branchetti, who gives the powerfully flamed maple of the two-piece back and the medium-aged spruce of the top an attractive antique appearance. This is matched by the maturity and warmth of the sound that Luca Branchetti has modelled on the basis of these excellent tonewoods; a musical quality that reflects the constant exchange between this interesting violin maker and professional violinists, which is fundamental to his work. The experts in our workshop have carefully inspected the instrument and prepared it for playing. It is in excellent condition, with a small, structurally insignificant repair to the lower nut.
