Gennaro Russo is one of the most remarkable representatives of contemporary Italian violin making. With this work from 2006, he presents an impressive example of his unique style and mature craftsmanship. The one-piece back made of finely flamed maple and the top made of medium-aged spruce are first-class tonewoods whose natural beauty and acoustic quality are perfectly highlighted by the richly applied orange-brown oil varnish. The slender neck, the striking, widely extended corners and the distinctive scroll, combined with the fine craquelure of the varnish, give the violin a distinctive appearance. It bears the maker's original label and his handwritten signature. The warm, far-reaching sound opens up a wide range of musical expression.
