A fine Swiss violin made by Zürich by Gustav Altheim in 1938. The violin is originally labelled and numbered Op. 115. The violin is a fine masterpiece that was made from the finest woods. The top is made of medium grained spruce, the two piece back of deeply flamed maple. The huge noble scroll is perfectly carved. There is one repair on top at the bass soundholes as well as two minor f-wing repairs. The original varnish has been covered with a transparent layer of a protective varnish. This Swiss Gustav Altheim violin projects instantly and immediately and has a bright, open, slightly sweet sound very rich in overtones
