This lightweight French violin bow by Charles Nicolas Bazin, made around 1880, is a model of simple beauty and elegance. A relatively light, medium-stiff, and responsive violin bow with a certificate from J.-F. Raffin, it is crafted from top-quality pernambuco wood, which produces a bright and sweet tone, and was made in Mirecourt around 1880, toward the end of the 19th century. The stick is round and of medium thickness; the reddish-brown wood has a magnificent grain and luster. The black ebony frog, showing minor signs of age, is pleasing in its clean lines and is fitted with nickel silver fittings. The perceived balance point is centered, slightly toward the lower half. This Charles Nicolas Bazin violin bow, prepared and ready to play, sits very well in the hand and plays with a lively response, producing a bright, warm, refined, and resonant tone. The price includes a certificate from J.-F. Raffin, Paris.
