This superbly preserved French violin bow comes from the workshop of renowned bow maker Charles Louis Bazin (Louis Bazin). It was made around 1935, at a time when Bazin was already independently running the traditional family business. His father and teacher, Charles Nicolas Bazin, had handed over the workshop in Mirecourt to him in 1907 – a responsibility that Louis Bazin fulfilled with great success. Under his leadership, the Bazin workshop reached its artistic and technical peak. Despite his own distinctive style, Louis Bazin always remained true to his family's high quality standards. That is why his violin bows are still among the most sought-after instruments for discerning musicians today. The violin bow by Louis Bazin presented here impresses with its noble, warm and powerful sound as well as its balanced playing characteristics. The medium-strength, round stick is made of select pernambuco wood and offers a pleasantly balanced centre of gravity that is slightly towards the tip. Both the finely shaped head and the ebony frog with nickel silver fittings, mother-of-pearl eye, delicate frog ring and three-piece screw testify to Bazin's masterful craftsmanship and his confident sense of style. The bow is in excellent, undamaged condition with only slight signs of use. Its authenticity is confirmed by a certificate from J.-F. Raffin, which is included in the price. We recommend this Louis Bazin bow especially for ambitious young musicians and modern, powerful-sounding violins, to which it lends a pleasant warmth and depth of tone. The bow with minor defects on the ebony has been carefully checked in our violin-making workshop, is ready to play and comes with free shipping, a 30-day return policy and Corilon's trade-in guarantee.
