Fine French violin bow with comfortable playing characteristics and excellent string contact, perfectly balanced for a bright, noble and characterful sound typical of French bows.
Marie Louis Piernot (1880–1959) had already made a name for himself among Parisian bow makers when he opened his own workshop in 1923. During this early phase of his career, which is considered his best, his customers included the renowned Paul Beuscher, for whom he made this superbly crafted violin bow bearing Beuscher's original stamp.
The excellent playing and sound qualities of this Marie Louis Piernot violin bow reflect both the high level of craftsmanship that its maker achieved during his time in the workshops of Charles Nicolas Bazin, Joseph Arthur Vigneron Père, and Léon Bernardel, and the quality standards of the Paul Beuscher company, which remains a central address in Parisian musical life to this day. With its octagonal stick made of top-quality orange-brown pernambuco, this 72.8 cm long and 57.8 g bow is perfectly balanced and offers a colorful, warm, yet bright and noble sound with character and substance, allowing for nuanced interpretations and showcasing all the qualities for which French bows are renowned. A few small scratch marks on the frog indicate that this violin bow has been played a lot, as befits its quality. It has been checked and prepared for playing in our workshop and is in excellent condition. It will be delivered worldwide free of shipping costs, with a certificate from the renowned expert J. F. Raffin.
