An excellent antique violin by Antonio Lorenzi. The instrument was made around 1900 in Mirecourt. It carries the number 1015 (probably meaning number 10 made in 1915). The violin is made in a typical Mirecourt style of the time, Antonio Lorenzi on the other hand being of Italian descent. The archings remind strongly of the Italian school. So, Antonio Lorenzi has obviously introcuded some Italian features during the production of this violin. The top is made of medium grained spruce, the two piece back of flamed maple. The beautiful red/brown varnish with some wear from playing (retouched). The violin is crackfree and perfectly preserved. The setup is by Joachim Roy Mittenwald. It's outstanding sound is huge, powerful and generally dominant, clear and precise with a mature character. Special recommendation!
