Italian violin by Ezio Tanzi (sold)
The grain on the ribs and back of this violin is so intricate that it appears to have been drawn by the hand of an artist – and yet nature was the craftsman that inspired Ezio Tanzi to build this exceptional instrument in 1976. The structure of this flat-arched violin is in keeping with the finest Italian tradition which flourished in Tanzi's home town of Ascoli Piceno. The lustrous, orange-yellow varnish sets the violin's distinctive aesthetic in its best light, and its appearance is wonderfully complemented by its bright, clear, brilliant sound that is rich in overtones. The scroll was grafted on before varnishing, presumably by Tanzi himself. This instrument has its handwritten and signed original label, and we offer it in perfect, flawless condition.
