James Tubbs, a fine artistic violin bow

This fine early violin bow by James Tubbs was made around 1870: a fine, lively violin bow made by "the English Tourte", one of the greatest English masters of his time. The round stick is unstamped, made of fine, textured pernambuco wood and features surprising stiffness and acitivity. The delicate ebony frog is silver mounted with white pearl slide, the expressive head has a silver head plate - the silver button is a copy from the Grünke atelier. Strong artistic expression of frog and head reveal young James Tubbs as the artist maker of this fine violin bow, the perfect weight distribution and playability witness the experienced master. This fine, highly elastic and vibrant James Tubbs violin bow produces a notably large, warm, liquid tone of a unique noble character and permits a wide range of finely nuanced interpretations.
