Fine quality Markneukirchen violin bow. Knopf workshop, c.1880

This fine quality German violin bow is strong and active, it was made in Markneukirchen in the Knopf workshop around 1880. The strong yet elastic octagonal stick is of very good tension, made of fine quality red-brown pernambuco wood. The stick is of high tension and plays actively and bouncy. The ebony frog is silver mounted. The weight is 55.0 g, the total length 74.5 cm. The felt balance point is centered, slightly shifted towards the upper half of the stick with a balance point measured at 25.1 cm from the frog end (adjuster length included). This strong, active violin bow is in perfect and immediate playing condition. Works well for fast virtuoso play and Mozart pieces.
