Mittenwald violin, probably Josef Bitterer workshop

This beautiful old violin with a warm, powerful sound was made by one of the modern Mittenwald violin makers, presumably in the workshop of Josef Bitterer around 1960. Excellent quality materials, medium grained spruce and narrow flamed Alpine maple, were combined with traditional Mittenwald craftsmanship. The beautiful woods and the warm, orange-toned varnish show only minor signs of use. This good violin is undamaged and offered in excellent condition after a complete workover by the luthiers working at Corilon violins, ready to unfold a strong, warm, powerful sound which is clear and brilliant with a dark note in the lower ranges. This beautiful instrument deserves the classification “highly recommended”.
