Old Saxon violin. 1920's, warm, sweet sound

An especially attractive old German violin from Saxony made in the 1920'ies. The instrument is a very good quality handmade piece of work made as a beautiful copy of Antonius Stradivarius. The archings are held flat. The top is made of medium grained spruce, the two piece back of especially beautiful, deeply flamed maple. The transparent varnish is an oil varnish of a red-orange color, applied on a golden-yellow ground. The varnish is slightly patinated and in excellent condition. The small scroll is well proportioned and thoroughly worked out. Like all instruments from us this old Saxon violin is set up and ready to play after a complete professional workover. The sound is well balanced and of a bright, warm clear character with warm sweetness in the upper ranges.
